چکیده

Roller bearing failure is a major factor in failure of rotating machinery. As a fatal defect is detected, it is common to shut down the machinery as soon as possible to avoid catastrophic damages. Performing such an action, which usually occurs at inconvenient times, typically results in substantial time and economical losses. It is, therefore, important to monitor the condition of roller bearings and to know the details of severity of defects before they cause serious catastrophic consequences. The vibration monitoring technique is suitable to analyze various defects in bearing. This technique can provide early information about progressing malfunctions. This paper describes the suitability of vibration monitoring and analysis techniques to detect defects in roller bearings. Triaxial vibration measurements were taken at each end of the coupling on the motor and rotor bearing housings. The results indicate that bad bearing has a strong effect on the vibration spectra. Time domain analysis, vibration spectrum analysis have been employed to identify different defects in bearings. The results have demonstrated that each one of these techniques is useful to detect problems in roller bearings.

Analysis of Roller Bearings’ Vibration Signals by Hilbert – Huang Transform as Diagnostic Tool

Roller bearings are important elements of high performance mechanical systems, as they support the rotating parts and they reduce the contact friction. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously monitor their performance using non-destructive diagnostic methods. These methods interrogate data signals acquired during the machines operation. In this paper, the method of Hilbert – Huang transform ...

Fault Detection of Roller-Bearings Using Signal Processing and Optimization Algorithms

This study presents a fault detection of roller bearings through signal processing and optimization techniques. After the occurrence of scratch-type defects on the inner race of bearings, variations of kurtosis values are investigated in terms of two different data processing techniques: minimum entropy deconvolution (MED), and the Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator (TKEO). MED and the TKEO are empl...

Design of a Vibration and Noise Testing System of Rolling Bearings

In practical engineering, quality control of mechanical components or parts of rotational machinery is quite important. As for rolling bearings, the defects from rolling bodies, internal ring, external ring, and retainer are more focused on. Therefore, in this work, a vibration and noise test system is developed for the defect diagnosis of mechanical components above-mentioned. The key point of...

The fault detection and severity diagnosis of rolling element bearings using modulation signal bispectrum

The rolling element bearing is a key part in many mechanical equipment. The accurate and timely diagnosis of its faults is critical for predictive maintenance. Vibration signals from a defective bearing with a localized fault contain a series of impulsive responses, which result from the impacts of the defective part(s) with other elements and inevitable noise. Most researches carried out have ...
